3RD ANNUAL HOMEBREW COMPETITION

Brews on the Bricks and the Hays Homebrewers are proud to present this opportunity to those celebrating the art of craft brewing in their own homes.

Thank you for your interest in the 4th Annual Homebrew Competition in Hays, Kansas. This event is a part of a larger event, the Brews on The Bricks Craft Beer Festival, and we appreciate you being a part of it. The following guidelines should give you all the information you need to have a successful experience on Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4, 2019.

Competition Fees-

The fee to participate is $35 per entry/beer. $5 of your registration fee goes to the Brews on The Bricks event. DHDC is a 501c3 Non-Profit, Brews on The Bricks is one of two fundraisers for the organization. $10 of the registration fee goes to cover the cost of the competition itself to provide judges, glassware, etc. The remaining $20 of the fee goes directly to the Hays Homebrew club as a fundraiser for their organization. Your payment will allow you to compete and will also provide you with one, "Homebrewer Pass." The homebrewer pass will act as a general admission ticket to the Brews on The Bricks event May 4th, provided you bring an additional 2 gallons to serve in the private homebrew area.

Competitors will also be allowed to purchase a second Homebrewer Pass for $40, the cost of a General Admission Ticket.

Competition Guidelines-

• Each competitor is required to bring the equivalent of 2 bottles per entry. Bottles or growlers ONLY.

• Entries should be dropped off no later than May 3rd and brought directly to Gella's Diner, 117 E 11th Street. Entries should arrive no later than 5pm. MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON THE BOX(ES)!

• Your brew must be labeled with the following details: YOUR NAME, BEER NAME, and ABV.

• A professional panel of craft beer experts will sample and judge each entry on Friday, May 3rd to determine an overall winner. Winners will be announced the following day at the Brews on The Bricks event.

• Each competitor has until April 26 to make any changes to their beer information. Changes should be emailed to dhdc@downtownhays.com.

Brews on The Bricks - May 4, 2019-

• The event is located on 10th street, just off of Main on the west side. There will be a private area just for homebrew sampling to take place.

• Each competitor wanting to utilize their homebrew pass on this day is required to bring 2 gallons of their entry. Bottles or growlers ONLY. If you do not arrive at the event with 2 gallons of your entry, you will not be permitted to enter.

• Check-in and load in starts at 10am, and you will need to be loaded in no later than 12pm. Once you are unloaded, you can park on the 100 block of W 9th Street.

• We will provide all serving equipment and cooling equipment (i.e., cups, pitchers, water, and ice).

• Around 300 VIP ticket holders will be sampling the beers during the Brews on The Bricks event Saturday, May 4. From 12:30-2pm, we ask that you stay in the private homebrew area. Afterward, you are free to enjoy the event. We do ask however that two or three homebrewers remain in the area at all times to pour the brews.

• The VIP attendees will decide a People's Choice Award Winner by texting in their favorite.

• The official award presentation will take place at 4pm. Both the overall winners and people's choice winners will be announced.

Homebrewer Passes-

You will receive your homebrewer pass(es) upon arrival at the event on Saturday. The homebrewer pass allows you to be judged, serve, enter the private homebrew area, and sample beers from 2-5pm.

First Place - Gold Medal, Event Swag, and a “Brew Day” at Lb. Brewing in Hays

Second Place - Silver Medal, Event Swag

Third Place - Bronze Medal, Event Swag

People's Choice Awards (chosen by text by event attendees)-

First Place - Gold Medal, Event Swag
